Victor.
What if victory is measured
one round at a time?
There was something about this bloom that made me smile. Its small buds looked like boxing gloves, its arms lifted high—not preparing for the fight, but like a boxer after the final bell, standing with arms raised in victory.
We tend to picture victory that way: a clear ending, a decisive win, a moment when we know we have overcome.
But some of life's most meaningful victories aren't so easily measured.
Sometimes victory is making it through something you weren't sure you could. Taking a step that once seemed impossible. Accepting help. Adapting when life asks you to find a different way forward. Or simply looking back and realizing how much it took to arrive where you are now.
Victor reminded me that we don't have to compare our victories with anyone else's. What looks small from the outside may have required everything we had.
So perhaps there are moments when we deserve to stop—not to prepare for the next round, but simply to recognize this one.
To look at how far we've come.
And, for just a moment, to raise our arms in recognition of making it through this round.
YOU MADE IT THROUGH THIS ROUND.
THAT IS WORTH RECOGNIZING.
